IDE Quick Tip - Hiding the Message window

Rebuild the project, reopen the main source file, and make some more changes. Oops! Move the Message window so it doesn't cover the project window, then reopen the main source file. Now the Message window is covering up one of the other source file windows.

OK, close the Message window. Make the latest changes. Rebuild the project. There's the Message window again.

Does this sound familiar? If you keep several windows open in the Integrated Development Environment (IDE), you've probably found the Message window in your way from time to time. Even if you close it, the IDE will reopen it when you rebuild the project.

Fortunately, if you minimize the Message window (by clicking its minimize icon), the IDE will leave it minimized, as shown in Figure A, until you maximize it. Since each time you rebuild a project, the Compile Status window will report whether the project contains errors, you can leave the Message window closed until you need to see the actual text of an error or warning message.

Figure A - If you minimize the Message window, it will stay minimized until you maximize it.
